Wombo combos are the most satisfying way to win teamfights in League of Legends. When multiple champions combine their ultimates in perfect sequence, entire teams evaporate in seconds. Mastering wombo combos — both executing and countering them — is essential for climbing.
A perfect wombo combo has three phases: setup (AoE CC that locks multiple enemies in place), follow-up (burst damage that kills the CC'd targets), and cleanup (mop up survivors with resets or mobility). Each phase requires precise timing and positioning.
Wombo combos require team coordination. If the Malphite ults but the Yasuo is 2000 units away last-hitting raptors, the combo fails. Communicate with your team. Ping your ultimate readiness. Walk together before the fight.
Malphite + Yasuo + Orianna: Malphite ult (Unstoppable Force) knocks up 3-5 enemies. Yasuo ults (Last Breath) onto the knocked-up targets, locking them in place. Orianna ults (Command: Shockwave) pulls them together and deals massive damage. Three ults = pentakill.
Amumu + Miss Fortune + Katarina: Amumu ults (Curse of the Sad Mummy) roots the entire enemy team. Miss Fortune ults (Bullet Time) deals AoE damage to everyone rooted. Katarina's passive resets allow her to clean up survivors after the initial burst.
Orianna + Rumble + Jarvan: Orianna puts her ball on Jarvan. Jarvan ults (Cataclysm) trapping enemies in the arena. Orianna ults (Shockwave) pulls everyone to the center. Rumble drops Equalizer on the trapped enemies. Nothing survives.
Lux + Morgana: Lux throws her binding cage ult (Final Spark) while Morgana has already snared targets with Dark Binding. The CC chain lasts long enough for Lux to kill. Known as the 'Luxanna' combo in duo bot.
Do not use all ults at the same time. If the Malphite ult knocks up the enemy team, wait 0.5 seconds before using Yasuo ult. If you overlap Malphite knockup CC with Yasuo CC, you waste CC duration. Layer your CC 0.5-1 second apart.
Ping your ultimate before engaging. Let your team know you have R ready. If your Yasuo does not know you are looking for an engage, he will not be in position to follow. Communication is mandatory for combo execution.
Positioning before the combo matters more than the combo itself. If the Malphite is standing behind the team, he cannot engage. If the Orianna ball is on the wrong target, the combo fails. Walk as a group before looking for the engage window.
Countering wombo combos is about vision and positioning. If you see the Malphite coming, you can flash his ult. Warding flanks and common engage angles gives you reaction time. Spread out in teamfights — clumping makes you vulnerable to AoE combos.
QSS (Quicksilver Sash) and Mikael's Blessing remove CC. If the enemy team has a Malphite + Yasuo combo, buy QSS. When Malphite ults, QSS the knockup so Yasuo cannot ult onto you. One QSS can save the entire teamfight.
Spread out in teamfights. Wombo combos require enemies to be close together. If your team is spread out, the Malphite can only catch 1-2 people instead of 5. Disciplined spacing beats fancy combos.
Wombo combos require practice and team coordination. In Solo Queue, do not expect perfect synergy. Ping your ultimate status before every fight. If your Malphite has R and your Yasuo has R, ping both 10 seconds before the engage window. Pre-fight communication is mandatory.
In coordinated play (Clash, Flex Queue), practice specific combo timings. The Orianna + Rumble + Jarvan combo requires Jarvan to communicate when he will ult so Orianna can move the ball. Drilling combo sequences in Practice Tool helps build muscle memory for timing.
Wombo combos win games, but counter-play wins championships. If you know the enemy has Malphite + Yasuo, buy QSS, spread out, and do not clump. A combo you see coming is a combo you can avoid.
