Overview

The Precision tree is the go-to primary path for champions who rely on sustained damage through auto-attacks and extended fights. It provides attack speed, healing, and damage amplification that scales throughout the game. ADCs, marksmen, and auto-attack-reliant fighters get the most value from this tree. Learn more about League of Legends rune paths and how Precision fits ADC builds.

Precision offers three distinct keystones, each catering to a different playstyle. The lesser runes are organized into three rows (slots), and you pick one rune from each slot. The combination of keystone and lesser runes should match how you plan to trade, fight, and scale.

Keystones

Lethal Tempo grants bonus attack speed when attacking enemy champions, stacking up to 6 times. At max stacks, it also increases your attack range. This keystone is ideal for hypercarries like Jinx, Twitch, and Kog'Maw who want to shred teams in late-game teamfights. The Precision page on the LoL Wiki explains each rune mechanic and optimal champion matchups.

Conqueror stacks adaptive force on each separate attack or ability against enemy champions. At max stacks, you heal for a percentage of damage dealt. Conqueror is the choice for extended fighters like Irelia, Yasuo, and Riven who thrive in prolonged skirmishes. Press the Attack marks enemies, making them take extra damage from all sources after three consecutive attacks — excellent for aggressive laners like Lucian and Tristana.

Slot 1 Options

Overheal converts excess healing into a shield, providing a small buffer against poke. It works well with lifesteal builds or healing supports. Triumph restores missing health and grants bonus gold on takedowns, offering sustain in skirmishes. Presence of Mind restores mana on champion damage and grants mana regen, essential for mana-hungry champions like Ezreal and Kai'Sa.

Triumph is the most popular choice for its reliability in fights, while Presence of Mind is mandatory on champions that spam abilities. Overheal is a niche pick that shines with enchanter supports.

Slot 2 Options

Legend: Alacrity grants stacking attack speed, capping at a significant bonus. It is the default for most ADC builds. Legend: Tenacity provides stacking tenacity (crowd control reduction), invaluable against CC-heavy teams. Legend: Bloodline offers stacking lifesteal, converting your auto-attacks into sustain over the course of the game.

The choice between these depends on the enemy team. Alacrity for standard games, Bloodline against poke comps where you need sustain, and Tenacity against teams with heavy CC like Morgana, Leona, or Ashe. You can check the enemy team in champ select to decide.

Slot 3 Options

Coup de Grace deals bonus damage to low-health enemies, helping you secure kills. It is the most versatile and commonly taken option. Cut Down deals bonus damage against enemies with higher max health than you, which is almost always relevant as a squishy ADC against tanks and bruisers. Last Stand deals bonus damage when you are below 60% health, rewarding aggressive play on fighters who thrive while low.

Cut Down is particularly strong into tank-heavy comps and is seeing increased play in professional ADC builds. Coup de Grace remains the most popular for solo queue due to its reliability.

Best Champions for Precision

Every ADC in the game runs Precision as their primary tree. Jinx, Ashe, Caitlyn, Jhin, and Kai'Sa all default to Precision with Lethal Tempo or Fleet Footwork. Fighters like Yasuo, Yone, Irelia, Tryndamere, and Fiora also depend on Precision for their damage output.

Some mages and assassins dip into Precision as a secondary tree for Presence of Mind or Legend: Tenacity. Precision as a primary path, however, is almost exclusively for auto-attack and sustained damage dealers.

Always check if Cut Down will activate against the enemy team's health pools. If the enemy top, jungle, and support are all building HP items, Cut Down provides significantly more value than Coup de Grace throughout the game.
