Overview
Support itemization is unique in League of Legends because your impact is measured in utility, not damage. The right support items amplify your allies' strengths, mitigate enemy threats, and control vision around key objectives. Support builds are gold-efficient by design — support items cost less than other legendary items and provide aura effects that benefit the entire team. Choosing the right Mythic and legendaries for your support style is critical for enabling your carries.
Enchanter Items
Moonstone Renewer is the default enchanter Mythic, healing or shielding nearby allies when you affect a champion. It excels in extended teamfights where you can keep pumping out heals. Shurelya's Battlesong is the aggressive enchanter choice, granting movement speed to you and nearby allies when you use an ability — perfect for engage and disengage.
Ardent Censer empowers your heals and shields to grant bonus attack speed and on-hit magic damage to allies. It is core when supporting auto-attack-reliant champions. Staff of Flowing Water grants AP and movement speed to shielded or healed allies, ideal for AP carries. Redemption drops a global heal area that damages enemies — excellent for cross-map saves and objective contests.
Tank Support Items
Locket of the Iron Solari shields all nearby allies with a decaying shield, absorbing burst damage during engages. It is the most versatile tank support Mythic, useful against both AD and AP compositions. Evenshroud amplifies damage on enemies you immobilize, making engage supports like Leona and Nautilus even more threatening.
Zeke's Convergence burns enemies for magic damage when your ADC attacks them while you are near. Knight's Vow redirects 12% of pre-mitigation damage from your bound ally to you, effectively giving your carry extra effective health. These two items together create a powerful protective synergy.
Starter Items
Support starter items automatically upgrade at specific gold thresholds. Spellthief's Edge upgrades to Frostfang, then to Shard of True Ice, granting AP, mana regen, and wards. Relic Shield upgrades to Targon's Buckler, then to Bulwark of the Mountain, providing health and health regen. Shoulderguards (the AD version) upgrades similarly, granting AD and HP.
You do not need to manually upgrade your support item — it upgrades automatically once you earn enough gold from its passive. Focus on completing your Mythic item first, then branch into situational legendaries based on the enemy comp.
Vision Control
Vision is the support's most powerful tool. Oracle Lens (sweeper) replaces your ward trinket once your support item is upgraded. Use it to clear enemy vision before objectives. Control Wards are essential for denying vision in key areas — always carry at least one after your first back. Wardstone (or its upgraded version, Vigilant Wardstone) increases your ward capacity and grants bonus stats based on your other legendary items. It is the most cost-efficient item in the game for support, and you should aim to complete it every game after your core build.
Control Wards are not optional. Buy one every single back and place it somewhere that controls vision for the next objective. A single well-placed Control Ward can win a Baron fight by denying the enemy team vision of the pit.
